Caroline Black Sikorske/TBACP Alberto Romero Jr. Team Member Award
Please join us in congratulating Caroline Black Sikorske, who on May 11 was awarded the Alberto Romero, Jr. Team Member Award by the Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
The award annually recognizes a member of the TBACP practice group who consistently strives to demonstrate fairness, courtesy, dignity, honesty, integrity and an abiding sense of responsibility to comply with the standards and rules of professionalism in the practice of collaborative law.
About the award: In 2015, Tampa attorney and TBACP member Alberto Romero, Jr. died tragically in Havana, Cuba, at age 39. Alberto was born in New Jersey and moved to Tampa with his family at age five. After graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law, Alberto began his legal career in 2002 at Gulf Coast Legal Services defending indigent victims of domestic violence. He later moved to private practice, handling marital and family law cases, and in 2009 earned Florida Bar Board Certification in Marital and Family Law, the Bar’s highest level of evaluation for a lawyer. In 2011, Alberto opened his own law firm in Tampa. He was also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.
Alberto’s passion for his work was a deep part of his character. He did more than represent people during the most difficult and stressful times. He listened to their fears and hopes with compassion and understanding, and he advocated for them fiercely. He was known for his hard work and his search for solutions that treated all parties with dignity.
